The first stop on our tour of Donegal will bring you to the dizzie heights of Slieve League.
Some of you might decide to scale the 1972 feet high cliffs (the highest in Europe).
If the walk to Slieve League is not your thing, we take you to Glencolmcille, and the Glenciolmcille Folk Village Museum.
The Folk Village Museum is a cluster of several small cottages, called a ‘clachan’, perched on a hillside overlooking the
sandy curve of Glen Bay Beach. The Folk Village is one of Ireland's best living-history museums.
Each cottage is an exact replica of a dwelling used by the local people in each of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries and is
equipped with the furniture, artifacts and utensils of its particular period. A reconstructed school house, fisherman’s dwelling
and tiny pub-grocer offer additional insights into rural Irish life in one of the most remote corners of the country.
Visitors may wander at leisure through the Village, or join one of our excellent guided tours.
We then return The Rusty Makerel, a renowned traditional Irish bar, restaurant, and accommodation made famous for its
traditional music and warm, friendly atmosphere.
The bus will then take you to the town of Ardara, via the glaciated valley of Glengesh Pass.
This meandering drive can assault your senses with magnificent scenery all around. In Ardara,
we stop at the famous Corner Bar, where you will find a traditional music session, with some of the finest musicians in Donegal joining in.
Our next stop is The Reel Inn or McCafferty's Bar, in the Donegal Town. The Reel Inn is a traditional pub and was recently named
the Best Pub In Ireland award at the recent Irish Hospitality Awards in 2017. Reknowned for having great traditional music sessions,
the pub is directly opposite Donegal Castle, the stronghold of the O'Donnell clan,
Lords of Tír Conaill and one of the most powerful Gaelic families in Ireland from the 5th to the 16th centuries. McCafferty's Bar,
also known as Sonny McSwine's, is the go-to place in Donegal Town for live music beside the fire, every night of the week.
